Ezekiel saw the wheel.
This is the wheel he said he saw.
These are Unidentified Flying Objects that people say they are seeing now.
Are they proof that we are being visited by civilizations from other stars?
Or just what are they?
The United States Air Force began an investigation of this high strangeness in a search for the truth.
What you are about to see is part of that 20 year search.

Those were the words, spoken by radio and television veteran, Jack Webb, that opened the premiere episode of "Project: U.F.O.".

The series ran on NBC for nearly 2 seasons and a total of 26 one-hour episodes. The early episodes garnered very high ratings, some of the highest for any science-fiction television show ever aired! But, alas, this was not to last long. In season 2, William Jordan (Major Jake Gatlin), left the show and was replaced by Edward Winter (known for years on M*A*S*H as the off-the-wall Cnl. Flagg) as Captain Ben Ryan. Caskey Swaim stayed on as Sgt. Harry Fitz.

The series was based on The United States Air Force's "Project Bluebook" program. Their goal was to determine whether or not UFO's posed any actual threat to our national security.

Produced by Jack Webb's production company, Mark VII Limited, the show was done in typical Jack Webb style a la Dragnet, Adam-12 and Emergency.

The show has recently been available in syndication through Worldvision and Lorimar Telepictures, despite the fact that it has rarely, if at all, been seen since it's initial run on NBC from February, 1978 to July, 1979. I will attempt to contact both companies and see what details I can find out. I will report my findings on this page. Stay tuned.

The Sci-Fi Channel seems the most likely to pick it up for a run (they have run it in the U.K.), but several letters to them have only resulted in the typical automated e-mail response. I urge all of the Project: U.F.O. fans out there to flood the Sci-Fi Channel with e-mail asking them to buy this series. Maybe if enough of us speak out in favor of it, they may respond and put it on the air again.  Also, TV-Land has recently aired one episode, "The Doll House Incident" as part of it's Ultimate Fan Hour so a letter writing campaign to them would also be  a good idea.

I have found out, however, that the series did recently run on TV-1, an Australian cable tv channel and thanks to a wonderful lady "down under" and another equally wonderful lady in the U.K, I now have the entire run.  All 26 episodes are available on DVD-R!  See the Videos section for more details.

Please peruse this page and be sure to tell all of your Project: U.F.O. friends/fans to visit it often. This is a work in progress. I hope to obtain color photos from the show to post here soon. If anyone out there has any info or photos on the series that is not already here on this page, please e-mail me and hopefully we can work something out.

This page is not for profit and exists solely as a tribute to a show that remains in my memory 20+ years after it left the network, as well as a service to the fans of the series. I have searched far and wide on the web and believe this to be the only detailed page on Project: U.F.O. that exists on the internet, except for an Italian version I came across.  Seems the guy just copied my page and translated it into Italian.  Would have been nice if he'd have asked me first.

Thanks for dropping by,
Sincerely, John W. Matthews.
